Can Denmark build cyber solutions for all of Europe?

Cybersecurity is like a burglar alarm: invisible yet indispensable. In daily life, few think about it – until a break-in occurs and it’s already too late to regret not taking precautions. If we fail to act now, we will almost certainly be hit. Around the world, hackers and hostile states are engaged in an arms race to exploit every open window.

"Cybersecurity investment is urgently needed, but such efforts should not solely benefit foreign companies. If Denmark can seize this opportunity, it has the potential to become a powerful engine for national growth, write Thomas Riisgaard Hansen of the Digital Research Centre Denmark (Direc) and Aleksander Moos of the National Defence Technology Center."

The hybrid war is already well underway. It threatens not only our businesses but also our defense infrastructure. Recently, a Danish helicopter and a patrol vessel were “jammed” near a Russian naval ship on an undisclosed mission. Even European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen has felt the danger: her plane lost its GPS signal en route to Plovdiv airport in Bulgaria, forcing the pilot to land manually with paper charts.
